Coaching, Mindfulness & Counselling each have some differing assumptions but all three modalities work best when there is an empathic relationship, congruence & unconditional positive regard for the client which are necessary to facilitate change. Coaching is focussed on clarifying goals and obstacles to action insights, achieve goals and create a desired future. Counselling is often a more long term relationship focussed on changing problematic beliefs, behaviours, relationship issues, feelings and impulses that were most likely formed in the past. Mindfulness is a present moment focussed way of being and experience that is open, aware, compassionate and equanimous.
Coaching is best described as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process designed to maximise their personal and professional potential. Leadership, Career & Life Coaching is client-driven, goal orientated, learning and performance focussed on the here and now. Coaching can help you grow positively in the areas of life, wellness, relationships, career, studies and leadership.
Counselling is an interpersonal relationship that promotes the clients mental, emotional and social health and wellbeing. Counselling enhances self-understanding and insight, aims to resolve identified personal & professional problems through a supportive relationship. Problems can include stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, parenting & women's issues. Holistic counselling involves mindfulness, talking, journalling, creative arts & eco practices, role playing and movement.
Mindfulness coaching works by cultivating the capacity to control attention, regulate emotions and expand awareness. Mindfulness Coaching involves learning specific meditations and practicing skills & attitudes that integrate the mind and body and give rise to insight. It involves acceptance, gentle nurturing, developing spaciousness, compassion and equanimity. Mindfulness helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression & helps develop your resources for living authentically. My training is in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and provides an evidence-based context.
